What is an original art painting? And what makes it different from other fake forms of art paintings? Here we check it out,

Paintings are produced in a number of ways and methods including original and duplicate. You can buy paintings ashand-painted, canvas transferred or digital printed. Each one has its own share of pros and cons, and depending on your requirement and comfort, you are free to pursue any of them. But, hand-painted one is the original painting.

Anyway, it is vital to understand major difference between these options. One of the key forms of painting is hand-painting. This method requires the person to coin up an idea on a natural event, historical incident or any other topic. Thereafter, he is required to mimic this idea into a canvas using his hands. The artist must be competent and experienced, since sharp eyes and deft hands are mandatory to make hand-painted paintings.

Another method is the one which is commonly known as canvas transfer. Usually, here an artist just needs to copy out a painting without adding much to the second work. However, he is free to refine it or add subtle alterations if he so desires. The basic gist of the process involves:
  • Applying acrylic to a lithograph
  • Allowing it to dry
  • Scraping off the dried image and then transferring it to a canvas

Canvas transfer thus doesn't demand too much expertise on the part of the artist. Hence, even if the person is an amateur, he can pull this form of art successfully. However, the artist, at his discretion, is free to improvise and do some additions/subtractions as the situation demands.

Thus, the main differences between hand-painted painting and canvas transfer are:
  • The former requires a certain level of experience and mastery over the craft. On the other hand, the latter is preferred by amateurs and young beginners.
  • Hand-painted creations carry greater risk and it is tough to make a precise imitation of the original subject, and so it will mostly be original painting. On the contrary, canvas transfer enjoys less risk and offers higher chance of producing exact replica.
  • Hand-painted ones require greater effort, time and expenses. Canvas transfer is convenient, less time-consuming and much more economic.
A third and more recent/advanced form is digital printing. Using machines like printers, scanners, and graphic software tools like Photoshop, this form of printing produces much more precise replica without any visible flaw or alteration from the original. It is richer in quality, but limits the artist’s creativity to a certain point. But, before concluding, remember that only the first form produces original and genuine paintings.
